Somaly Mam...

Never heard of her name before.

During my Hornymoon Trip to Cambodia last September, I bought this book at the airport while waiting for departure. The tittle of this book - The road of lost innocence. It's the true story of a Combodia heroine who fled sexual slavery and now devotes her life to rescuing others. Written by Somalay Mam.

I finished read this book yesterday. ( Dalam hati....ehhh cepat pulak aku abis baca buku nie. Btol ker dah abis nie.) Sambil x puas hati selak2 those pages, just to make sure I didn't missed a chapter or two.

" Sold into prostitution in Cambodia as a small child, Mam has survived a trauma that is almost beyond the imagination each of memoir....driven by a sense of purpose greater than the self, and related with a haunted directess " - Guardian
Errr....quality gamba sgt tak memuaskan. Tangkap pakai camera phone jer nie.... :P
Synopsis - In Cambodia, girls as young as five are sold into prostitution every day. Somaly Mam was one such girl. Abandoned as a baby., Somaly was lokoed after by her grandmother until she dissapeared. She was then taken into the care of a man she called 'grandfather' , but was treated no better than an unpaid servant. Raped at twelve and force to marry at fifteen, Somaly was then sold to a brothel. After years of abuse she managed to escape, and went on to co-found AFESIP to combat the sexual trafficiking of young girls and women.

Yuppp....mmg itulah yang terjadi. If you have a daughter and desperate for money....you can sell them at brothel. Bayangkan young girls....as early as 5 years old di jual jadi pelacur. Combodian people believed that if you have sex with a virgin...mcm buang sial lah kan...bleh..? The best part was, if the was a tear at the girls vagina, diaorg selamba jahit...and then kena raped lagi....

Tak cukup kena rogol....diorg siap kena belasah ngan pelanggan! Belasah ngan bapak ayam and kena kurung kalo cuba nak melawan.. Can u imagine... Mmg scaryy!!

Dah besar sket...org ajak kawin. Then kena tipu....pastuh laki jual plak kat tempat pelacuran lagi. Easy money for them...kalo ader perempuan! Mcm tuh laaa seterusnya....until you can married a rich man! Selagi kawin ngan laki miskin, selagi tuh laaa nanti kena jual balik...

It's not an easy way out. The trauma - the torture, the beating, sex slavery etc...... mmg sgt kesian biler dgt cerita dier nie...sob sob sob

Somaly Mam has become an international figure and won a Glamour magazine Woman of the Year award in 2006. She's an icon now.... From nothing, she is now something! And after what she been thru, I salute this lady for her determination and strength to help other young girls and women. She really have a BIG heart!

" I share everything they've been through. It's as if we are the same person. I wear their scars on my body and in my soul. We don't need to say much to understand one another " - Somaly Mom
